Greetings Friends:

As someone who knows Bigelow well, we hope we might impose on you for a few minutes as we are seeking an addition to The Bigelow Company’s support team and are inquiring if this might be an opportunity for someone you know.  If so, we would be very grateful if you would forward the description below on to them and urge them to contact us directly.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Pete Worrell

Established in 1935, The Bigelow Company is an independently owned mergers & acquisitions advisory boutique with a singular and passionate client focus – entrepreneur owner-managers. Frequently, they are multi-generation families.  Occasionally owner-managers have institutional investors.  They all share a common goal: first, to create significant enterprise value for all stakeholders, and someday, to capture that enterprise value in a capital gain transaction. Leveraging our independence and single minded focus, we have helped hundreds of clients build and capture enterprise value – while honoring their values, their legacy, and the intersection of their professional and personal goals.

We are seeking a happy, confident professional with a minimum of five years of experience in a high performance service business.  This person will be a mature individual who has successfully met personal and professional challenges in his/her life and is ready for a career. The position requires that the candidate have strengths in and desires to use his/her excellent organizing and communicating (verbal and written) skills.  The successful candidate for this position will have worked in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment and possess a solid knowledge of business practices and support processes for client facing executives.  We are seeking a unique individual who likes to multitask in an environment where rapid changes may cause interruptions, shifts in priorities, and generally require you to “think on your feet.” He /she will embrace our culture of empathy, constructive candor, and radical transparency. The successful candidate must be a power user of Microsoft Office, and will bring working experience and knowledge of other helpful online tools such as Cisco WebEx, Capital IQ, and various other tools that he/she has found helpful in prior service business settings.  Exceptional PowerPoint skills, working knowledge of Adobe Contribute and Salesforce.com are a major plus.  Because we work exclusively with entrepreneur owner-managers with whom we are privileged to collaborate with on some of their most important work in their lives, we are not an environment that can take the time to nurture or train a less experienced person who does not already possess the skills required or is inexperienced implementing them. A bachelor’s degree is required.

This position will  be responsible for client related (50%) and administrative (50%) work including such activities as industry and company online research, working with client facing professionals on presentation materials, coordinating frequently changing scheduling of meetings, conference calls, and online meetings, managing logistics for out of town travel, and tracking client and investor activity using Salesforce.com.  This position will involve working with our significant intellectual property library and depicting that in graphical presentation form using state of the art software tools to continue to improve our graphical presentations.  This position will also be responsible for day-to-day website updates using Adobe Contribute and working with our website vendor on more complex edits.  Experience in creating simple videos and audio podcasts and linking to a website would be a plus.

The person hired will have the opportunity to live and work in the Portsmouth, NH area—frequently cited by major media as one of the top twenty places to live in the country.  We are a very engaged, fast paced high performance professional environment.  We are very demanding of ourselves.  Our office setting and the tools available are world class. The right candidate will be challenged and make a substantial difference to meaningful outcomes for our clients.

Compensation is generous and consists of competitively low fixed base salary, plus frequent incentive bonuses, paid indoor parking, holidays, vacation, an exceptionally generous profit sharing plan, and company paid medical plan and health savings account, and a company provided iPhone and laptop.  Taken as a whole, compensation is very attractive and above market. Occasional travel will be necessary as is occasional availability on weekends. The position demands a high degree of discretion and the execution of a strict Confidentiality-Non Disclosure agreement is required. We will want to speak with a minimum of three objective professional references, see examples of written work and presentations, and may request permission to perform a light background check.
